St. Brendan’s Community Nursing Unit is a purpose built residential care facility opened by the HSE in September 2011. The home, located in Loughrea Galway, provides various care plans for its residents including long term and short term care, dementia care, convalescent and respite care, as well as a daycare centre.

Accommodation consists of 100 beds spread over 4 care areas. There are 21 single bedrooms and 2 double bedrooms in each of the 4 care areas. All bedrooms come equipped with ensuite assisted shower and toilet. All residents have access to secure, sensory gardens and many rooms look out onto the lake. The home strives to create a home away from home atmosphere, providing all the luxuries of home in a relaxed and friendly environment within a professional modern medical care system.

Various activities are regularly organised at St. Brendan’s. Such activities include arts and crafts, bingo, music, quizzes, day trips and outings. Mass is also celebrated 4 days a week to care for the spiritual needs of residents at the home.

St. Brendan’s Community Nursing Unit is a two-storey building overlooking secure landscaped gardens and has stunning views across the lake of Loughrea. The home is within walking distance of Loughrea town, County Galway, where all local amenities can be found.
